Water on the floor after every shower, a stain spreading on the ceiling underneath, a waste that gurgles and holds water, or black sealant that keeps coming back. Most shower faults we are asked about are leaks, and leak repairs are a normal part of our week. We find where the water is getting out, fix that, and tell you the price before we start.

A puddle by the tray does not always mean the tray has failed. In most of the showers we open up, the water is escaping through one of three routes: a sealant joint that has lifted, a seal on the waste underneath, or grout and tiles with no proper waterproofing behind them. Each has a very different cost, so we find the route first rather than guessing.
Renewing sealant is usually an afternoon. Replacing a waste or its seal is usually half a day. Where the waterproofing behind the tiles has failed, the honest answer is often that the tray and surrounding tiles need to come out, and at that point a new shower can make more sense than a repair. We will tell you which one you are looking at.
A photo of the tray edge, the ceiling below or the waste helps. We give advice on the phone and a realistic time to visit.
We check the joints, the waste and the tiled walls to work out where the water is actually going.
You get the cost before any work starts. Then we reseal, replace the failed seal or valve, or clear the waste.
Damaged boards are put right and the area is left clean. If a part has to be ordered, a temporary fix keeps the shower usable until we return.
Run the shower with the screen door open and watch the tray edge and the corners. If water only appears when the spray hits the glass or the wall, the sealant or the screen seal is the likely route. If it appears even when you pour water straight into the waste, the waste seal is more likely.
If water is coming through a ceiling, stop using that shower until it has been looked at, and if it is near a light fitting switch that circuit off if it is safe to do so. Knowing where your stopcock is saves a lot of worry; it is usually under the kitchen sink.
If your hot water comes from a gas boiler and that is the fault, you need a gas engineer rather than us.
Fresh silicone on top of a wall that is wet behind the tiles only hides the leak for a while. We will say so rather than sell it.
