Bathroom mirrors, lighting and demist pads

A mirror that fogs after every shower gets wiped daily and looks smeared permanently. Demist pads and airflow solve it more reliably than a bigger fan alone.

The detail that matters

A demist pad behind the glass is a low-wattage heater on the lighting or fan circuit; it needs planning at first fix.

Mirror position should relate to the basin centre and the light positions, not simply be centred on the wall.

Frequently asked

Are illuminated mirrors worth it?

They give even front-facing light, which is better for shaving and makeup than ceiling lights.

Do demist pads use much energy?

They are low wattage and typically run only while the light or fan is on.
