How much tolerance should I allow?
For baths and trays, a few millimetres of clearance plus the ability to scribe or pack. A tight fit into an out-of-square room is a fitting problem.
Should I measure before or after removing tiles?
Both. Old tile beds can hide 20mm or more per wall.
