The cleaning time between guests is the constraint that should drive every choice. Wall-hung units with clear floor beneath, a single continuous floor covering, minimal profile trims and one tile format throughout can take fifteen minutes off every turnaround. Over a season that is real money.
Fittings that tolerate strangers
Thermostatic valves with a temperature stop prevent scald complaints. Concealed cisterns look excellent but put every future repair behind a wall, so specify an accessible panel or choose a good back-to-wall unit. Avoid anything where a replacement part depends on a single supplier remaining in business.
Ventilation and turnaround damp
Back-to-back showers with no drying period between guests is the fastest route to mould. An extractor with humidistat control and adequate overrun, sized for the room rather than the cheapest unit available, is a maintenance decision as much as a comfort one.
What guests actually notice
Reviews rarely mention tile choice. They mention hot water that runs out, a shower with weak flow, nowhere to put toiletries, and no hook for a towel within reach of the shower. Solve those four before spending on finishes.
