Microcement finishes in bathrooms
Questions to ask any fitter
Movement in the substrate telegraphs straight through a seamless finish, so decoupling and rigidity matter more than with tile.
The short answer
Microcement gives a seamless, joint-free surface. The result depends almost entirely on the preparation and the system used behind it.
Specification notes
- 1
It is a thin coating, so the waterproofing beneath it does the real work, the finish is not the barrier.

Your questions answered
Is microcement waterproof?
The system including membrane and sealer manages water; the coating alone is not a tanking layer.
Can it be repaired?
Localised repairs are possible but blending them invisibly is skilled work.
Want the awkward part looked at first?
Access, existing pipework and floor build-up are the things that change a plan. Those get checked before anything is promised.
